Spring Home Maintenance

With April being Lawn and Garden Month it is a great time to get back outside and check up on your property’s exterior to ensure its condition.

  1. Check the roof - Check for damages from the winter months and make necessary repairs for the possibility of leaks. Also, check for buildup of leaves and debris.

  2. Clean out the gutters - Clean the leaves thoroughly out of the gutters and downspouts to keep water flow. This reduces the possibility of water damage

  3. Inspect the concrete - Repair any cracks or broken/uneven surfaces on the walkways and driveways.

  4. Check outside faucets - Make sure all outside faucets are working and not causing water damage.

  5. Inspect the air conditioning unit - Make sure the unit is not being blocked by any debris buildup. Contact a professional if the blockage is extensive.

  6. Give the deck some attention - Provide the deck with all necessary restorations to prevent injury or house damage.

  7. Repair and reseal woodwork - Cracks and openings can hurt the woodwork of your home so re-sealing or repairing can prevent foundation damages.

  8. Run the sprinklers - If the sprinklers have not been active for a while run them because they could be ruined or need replacements parts.

  9. Inspect windows and doors - Make sure windows and doors are not damaged. If they need replacement or cleaning it could prevent house damage.

  10. Spruce up landscaping - Mow the lawn, fight the weeds in the yard, and be fond with fertilizer.

  1. Open the windows - Make sure the windows are able to open because they perhaps need replacing.

  2. Inspect your appliances - Check supply lines for washing machines, ice makers and water dispensers, refrigerators, and dishwashers for signs of leaks or wear and tear.

  3. Perform routine home safety checks - Smoke Alarms, Locks, and Windows.

  4. Clean the furnace - Have your furnace or boiler cleaned or inspected annually.

  5. Consider upgrades - Perhaps your appliances, furniture, or surfaces need upgrading.
