July 4th is the holiday to celebrate our nationhood. Independence Day is a historic day celebrated annually and something we at Elementary believe is very important. This year, the Fourth of July will be a much needed vacation time for many of us. Here are some Fourth of July tips for all celebrators. 

Outdoors


Outdoor Safety

For the 4th, we know the outdoors will be receiving more foot traffic and we just want to make sure everyone’s being safe. Here are some basic outdoor safety tips.

  • Always be weather wise

  • Pack a basic first aid kit

  • Be sure to limit the activities in the dark

  • Wear appropriate clothing 

  • Bring any necessary equipment

  • Never travel in certain areas alone

Water


Water Safety

  • Boating

    • Check your local weather status. Know all weather hazards

    • Have all passengers wear a life jacket

    • Check nautical resources for tide and current predictions

    • Be sure to look at wildlife viewing resources and guidelines.

    • Keep up to date with fishing regulations

    • Keep your boat clean and green to prevent spills

  • Swimming

    • Keep out of no swimming designated areas

    • Check tide and current predictions

    • Have life vest on standby 

    • Always swim with others, never alone if possible

Grill Safety

  • Propane and Charcoal BBQ grills should be used only outside

  • Keep the fluid and grills away from children

  • Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildups

  • Never leave the grill unattended

  • Make sure the gas grill lid is open before lighting
