If you are on the road, Elementary wants to give you all the tips we have about safety and your vehicle. Here are the Top 10 things to inspect about the vehicle:

  • Tires - Check the air with a gauge and inspect the tread.

  • Lights - Make sure all lights are working - turn signals, brights, and headlights.

  • Leaks - If your car is leaking, it will be a concern if its brake fluid, antifreeze, or transmission fluid. Consult a service shop if in doubt

  • Wipers - Turn them on, rear windows as well, and check on the wiper fluid.

  • Warning Lights - Among systems monitored: airbags, anti-lock brakes, tire pressure, lane-keeping, check engine, and brake assist.

  • Steering - Determine if your steering system, either electric or non-electric, is properly operating. Check fluids and listen for the squeal of the belt if loose.

  • Battery - Check the date on the battery and make sure it's up to date.

  • Fluids - Be sure the fluid checks still take place and include windshield washer fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant and oil.

  • Roadside Assistance - Be sure to figure out the roadside assistance service tied to the vehicle.

  • Gauges - Make sure to monitor the gas and temperature gauges.
